License Description: Any person engaged in the business to sell and manufacture firearms for sale in the State of Hawaiʻi either at wholesale or retail.

Apply for a Firearms License

Complete and submit the following to the Vehicle Registration & Licensing Division:

1. Notarized Application for Business and Occupation Form (State of Hawaiʻi GE Tax No. Required)
2. Supplement to Application for Firearms Business License Form
3. $10.00 License Fee - Please make payments payable to: County Director of Finance

Renew a Firearms License

A Renewal Letter will be mailed to you prior to the expiration of your license.

Update Business Information

Business License holders must notify the Vehicle Registration & Licensing Division of any changes to:

• Physical Address*
• Mailing Address
• Business Name or Owner
• Contact Information

*Firearms License holders must complete the Supplement to Application for Firearms Business License Form and have the new physical address Approved by the Hawai‘i County Planning Department prior to any changes being made.

To update all other information, complete and submit the Business License Information Update Form to the Vehicle Registration & Licensing Division.

Note: Licenses are Non-Transferable

Cancel a Firearms License

Business License holders must notify the Vehicle Registration & Licensing Division of such fact in writing and return the license for cancellation, under a penalty not to exceed $100 for failure to do so. (HRS, Section 445-9)
