Road Test Appointments
Welcome to the Road Test appointment page.
Please read this page in its entirety before scheduling for your road test to ensure you have all information.
Applicants under 18 years of age are required to provide Driver Education (DE -Driver Education and BTW-Behind the Wheel) certificates at time of appointment. We are unable to administer the in-vehicle skill test if you do not provide your driver education certificates at the time of check in. You will need to reschedule your appointment.
You must check in 30 minutes prior to your appointment time.
Upon successful completion of the in-vehicle road test, a temporary license will be issued. Additional fees will apply.
Road test appointments are available at this time at the following offices:
- Hilo (349 Kapiolani Street)
- Kona (74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway)
- Waimea (65-1158 Mamalahoa Highway)
- Pahoa (15-2615 Keaau-Pahoa Road).
Class 3 road tests appointments are opened on the 1st working day of each month for the following month.

All road test appointment fees are non-refundable.
Motorcycle, Motor Scooter or Moped Road Tests
Motorcycle, Motor Scooter or Moped road testing is by appointment only.

To schedule an appointment for a motorcycle road test in Kona, call 323-4800 or email konaroadtest@hawaiicounty.gov.

- Hilo
- Afook Chinen Civic Center at 323 Manono Street
- Kona
- The outdoor basketball court next to Kekuaokalani Gym on Kuakini Highway.
CDL Skills Test Appointments
CDL Skills Test Appointments are now being accepted at the Hilo or Kona office.
- Make an in-office appointment to schedule your skills test.
- A $50 non-refundable fee is required.
- Once payment is received and an appointment is made, you will be issued a confirmation of your scheduled skills test appointment with the date, time and location.
